“Our industry is under increasing competitive pressure to become more efficient, and constantly considering adjustments of our operations is inevitable for our future competitiveness”, says Werner Devinck, CEO of Lantmännen Unibake.
“The planned adjustments will build a logic continuation of already implemented strategic initiatives within Lantmännen Unibake’s fresh bakery business. We continue to improve our core business in Finland and the Baltic countries”, says Thomas Isaksson, Managing Director of Lantmännen Unibake Fresh Business Area.
While the plan is to invest in increased oat bread capacity and updating of production capabilities in Finland, Lithuania and Estonia, low capacity utilization rates across the Baltic bakeries lead Lantmännen Unibake to consider ceasing production in Riga (Latvia) and Kotka (Finland).
“We are highly committed to all of our local brands and markets in Finland and the Baltic countries, and these potential adjustments will further increase our strong focus on delivering innovative and high-quality breads for consumers in the region”, Thomas Isaksson ends.
