In the beginning of April, Lantmännen Unibake in Danmark was subjected to extortion, when unidentified offenders threatened to poison the company’s products, unless a considerable amount of money was deposited.
Lantmännen Unibake immediately contacted Danish police and handed over the case for criminal investigation, and subsequently Lantmännen Unibake has been in close contact with both police and the relevant authorities.
The safety of consumers and Lantmännen Unibake’s employees takes top priority. Danish food authorities assess that neither employees, customers nor consumers safety is at stake.
Lantmännen Unibake has taken the necessary precautions in all its offices and bakeries and inculcated security procedures including the importance of access control and secure mail and delivery handling.
According to the police, several food industries in Europe and Denmark have received similar threat letters as the one, that Lantmännen Unibake in Denmark received.
