Let there be no doubt about the importance when talking about hotel breakfast! Guests want to eat breakfast like kings, when staying at a hotel. This is why you as a hotel manager or chefs in hotels worry so much about breakfast – and the bread in particular, playing an essential and central role of the selection.
If things go wrong and the breakfast is inadequate, a whole lot of things are at stake – and this will suffer:
Keep these things in mind when choosing a manufacturer, wholesaler or supplier. Because what would you actually do if (and when) things go wrong? Not only if you make a bad batch of bake-off, but also if the delivery doesn’t arrive on time or your local bakery for some reason lets you down.
The key is precaution
would should we do the day we have no bread and pastry to serve for our customers? But you should. Honestly, what would you do with no bread or pastry to serve – and breakfast time is encroaching?
Would you always keep an extra batch in the freezer? And how long time does it need to de-frost? Or do you prefer to have a local manufacturer as your backup-plan? And will they have enough products to quickly make you a batch of bread and pastry?
You don’t know what to do, right? Except panic, of course.
Well, we will let you in on a little secret: A good idea is to take precautions and pick a manufacturer, wholesaler or supplier that can answer the following questions – so you never have to deal with the consequences of a delivery fail:
- What is the ability of the manufacturer to supply the desired goods?
- Can the manufacturer deliver consistently without compromising quality?
- How will the supplier deal with e.g. a shortage of a product?
- Can the supplier match the size of the hotel?
- How is the delivery taken care of?
- In what form will the delivered products arrive?
By knowing the answer to these questions, you are making sure that your supply chain stays strong, your reputation doesn’t suffer – and you keep serving a breakfast that is a king worthy.
Remember, the bigger the baking company that you partner up with is, the more likely it is that they can cater your needs. Especially if you choose an international one where production in neighbouring countries can serve as a backup-plan – in case things go wrong.
